Boost your export earnings by over £110*
You already save money by using the solar power you generate. Now you can save even more by getting paid a higher rate for the power you don’t use.
Sign up to Solar Savings to earn 15p per kWh for the electricity you send to the grid. That’s two to three times more than the FIT export rate, which is just 5-7p.
How it works
Switch: switch your energy supply to Good Energy and check the box saying you export renewable electricity. When you’ve switched, we’ll contact you to get you registered for Solar Savings.
Share: as soon as your Solar Savings tariff is set up, you’ll start earning money whenever you export power to the energy grid.
Save: your Solar Savings payments will be added to your energy supply account, reducing your annual bill. Solar Savings will replace your FIT export payment, but you’ll still receive your quarterly generation payment.
How much could I earn?
As a guide, the average British household that exports around 50% of the electricity it generates could earn over £210 on our 15p per kWh rate*. That’s over £110 more than you would earn for exporting the same amount on the highest FIT export rate, which is currently 7.14p.

What else do I need to know about Solar Savings?
Solar Savings is a variable tariff, with the rate updated every 3 months to make sure you receive a fair price. The rate can go down as well as up.
Solar Savings will replace your FIT export payment. Your generation payments, which make up the majority of your FIT earnings, will still be paid at your current rate.
Your earnings will vary depending on the volume of electricity you export. If you decide Solar Savings isn’t for you, you’ll be able to switch to another supplier. You can also move back onto your smart FIT export rate with Good Energy after 12 months.
*The top paying FIT export rate is currently 7.14p per kWh. The average UK household solar array (3.25kW) produces 2,847kWh and exports 50% of this. An export of 1,423.5kWh, at 7.14p per kWh equates to £101.64 FIT export payment per year. Solar Savings pays 15p per kWh creating a benefit to you of £111.89 by switching to Solar Savings. You may earn more or less than this depending on the volume of electricity you export. Solar Savings is a variable tariff.
