Good Energy is now a B Corp
Good Energy, one of the original purpose led businesses in the UK, has now joined the global movement for purpose led business in becoming a B Corp.
This makes us the only B Corp home energy supplier and one of only two business energy suppliers too.
What is a B Corp?
B Corps are companies that meet very high standards of social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability.
Companies that truly prioritise purpose as much as profit and have been independently verified by B Lab to prove it.
How do you become a B Corp?
To become a B Corp, companies need to complete B Lab’s B Impact Assessment. This looks into a company’s impact on its employees, its community, its customers and the environment. 80 is a minimum to achieve B Corp status, and the average score of businesses completing the assessment is 50.9.
You must recertify every three years, increasing your points each time.

What did our journey to B Corp Certification look like?
As a purpose-driven company, becoming a Certified B Corp has been our goal for many years, and we completed our initial B Impact Assessment in 2022.
To complete and verify our B Impact Assessment, we needed to provide evidence from all across the business, from our sustainability practices to our governance processes and community giving.
We scored a total of 118.5 points more than double the median score of 50.9 for companies completing B Lab’s Impact Assessment.
We rated particularly highly in the ‘Environment’ category due to the products and services we provide that help people to reduce their carbon emissions.
What’s next for Good Energy?
Although officially certified, we are yet to secure enduring certification through B Lab’s ‘values lock’ — which involves making a legal change to reflect our commitment to social and environmental impact alongside profitability.
We have a year in which to make this legally-binding change, and will be putting this as a special resolution to our shareholders at our 2025 AGM, as we did in both 2023 and 2024.
